Masters of design

Modern day surveyors and masters of design
Still marvel at the monument and how it was aligned
Positioned near the village on the overlooking hill
Engineered so the vision can be witnessed still

Carved from phillip island granite by the craftsman 'Finn'
A special stone, selected for the golden fleck within
Shipped up by paddleboat and bullock team as well
The freight to Louth alone could have bought a new hotel

Readers of romance, seekers of signs
Students of history, lovers of mystery, keepers of time
Modern day surveyors, Masters of design
Marvel at the monument, stare at the firmament, and how they are aligned

Erected using river charts designed for navigation
Aligned with a special knowledge of the constellations
So if you're in the right position at the end of day
You can see a vision that will take your breath away

The setting sun will hit the cross and turn the stone to fire
A brilliant Celtic halo, an eternal funeral pyre
But the day she died is what the trouble was all for
Because on that day the halo shines a beacon to her door

Readers of romance, seekers of signs
Students of history, lovers of mystery, keepers of time
Modern day surveyors, Masters of design
Marvel at the monument, stare at the firmament, and how they are aligned
