Recently I have been doing my bit for the ‘Country Rock & Roll’ cause and donated some time as a favour to Mick Daley of The Re-mains. Mick was looking to update the Re-Mains website with a subscription service called ‘The Vault’ as a way of providing tracks currently unavailable on previously released albums.

Now available from ‘The Vault’ are live tracks from various recorded sessions at Darwin ABC studios in August 2004, out-takes from the live album Loves Last Stand in May 2006 and the ABC Pilot for Live in Your Loungeroom at Bentleigh Hall in July 2005.

I urge any fan of Country Rock & Roll to visit the Re-mains website and become a subscriber – you won’t regret it.

To co-incide with updated subscription service The-Re-mains have also launched their latest album Inland Sea, which is available for purchase at Re-mains.com. For more information about the latest offering from the re-mains Andrew Hull has reviewed Inland Sea for Bushroots.com – Read Inland Sea review by Andrew Hull

Nymagee Music Festival

I was recently approached by friends and collaborators Andrew Hull and Tonchi McIntosh to develop  a new website for the Nymagee Outback Music Festival (the home of country rock n roll), to be held on the 31st October 2009.  I was eager to provide support for the cause, so I have been busy setting up the festival website which can be viewed at www.nymageemusicfetival.com.au. I will also be designing some additional promotional material and merchandise which will also be available for sale and download at the website.

Hully and Tonchi were co-directors of last years event and are looking to provide further exposure for the festival this year and for the future. The festival is currently organised on a shoe string budget and a ‘lot of love’ with acts from top quality singer songwriters and top shelf musicians from all around Australia that are willing to contribute to this great outback musical event.

Artists performing at this years event include The Re-mains, The Lonely Horse Band, Tonchi McIntosh, Neil Murray, Suzannah Espie,  The Junes, Andrew Hull, Den Hanrahan, Jackie Marshall, The Fugs, Jeff Gibson, Liz Stringer, Leah Flanagan and  Van Walker.

If you don’t want to miss out on one of the best music events of the year visit nymageemusicfestival.com.au for more details.

What is Bushroots?

During my time on the road visiting rural Australia, I am always meeting people who are doing some great things through various creative mediums including art, music, publishing and business. Bushroots.com is a personal non-profit website to showcase some of these ideas and to serve as a base for various projects I undertake personally.
You will discover a lot of the creative work showcased on bushroots.com is submitted by a good mate of mine Andrew Hull along with various ‘collaborators’. I am fortunate to have access to these contributions and do my bit to promote some great Australian talent . Other content will include contributions from Tonchi McIntosh, John ‘Tractor’ Rennick, bush artists, friends and anyone who has something to offer to the bush flavour of this site.
Re-launched in February 09, I expect Bushroots to grow over time through new ideas and features and a broader range of content. The new format will be helpful in forming some interesting and creative networks by providing some real support to rural artists. Hopefully the new content will also make Bushroots an entertaining site to visit, as this is what it is all about!
